We have looked all around the web to find the most relevant answer to your query:

The fast-food chain Popeyes was named after a character from which Oscar winning film?

  • The French Connection:Popeyes is a chain of fried chicken fast-food restaurants founded in New Orleans in 1972. Everyone assumes that Popeyes is named after the spinach-eating comic strip character, but the name was actually inspired by a fictional '70s detective. Popeyes founder Al Copeland named his fast-food chain after Popeye Doyle, Gene Hackman's character in the film “The French Connection”. The movie had been popular around the time that Copeland launched his first Popeyes restaurant. Copeland was a fan of the film’s lead character, a feisty New York detective nicknamed “Popeye” Doyle.
