The original Christmas celebration was more similar to what other celebration?
- Mardis Gras:The Christmas of the 17th century was quite different than the Christmas of today. Most people spent their holiday stopping by Church and then spending the rest of the day drinking and participating in a carnival in the street. Peasants would go to the homes of wealthy villagers and lords and demand their best food and drink. For the most part they would oblige and everyone kind of partied until the wee-hours of the morning. It wasn't until the Puritans decided the party was over that Christmas became a little more laid back.
