What name did Sitting Bull's father give him at birth?
- Jumping Badger:Sitting Bull was the son of a renowned Sioux warrior named Returns-Again. Born near Grand River, Dakota Territory, in 1831, Sitting Bull was originally named "Jumping Badger" by his father. A strong, capable young boy, Jumping Badger killed his first buffalo at only 10 years old. By age 14, he'd joined his father and uncle on a raid of a nearby Crow camp. Following the raid, in recognition of his bravery, Returns-Again renamed his son Tatanka Yotanka, translation Sitting Bull. He would go on to become chief and unite the Sioux tribes of the Great Plains against white settlers encroaching onto their lands. Source: History.com
