[Answer] What was the original filling flavor inside a Twinkie?

We have looked all around the web to find the most relevant answer to your query:

What was the original filling flavor inside a Twinkie?

  • Banana Cream:Continental Bakeries sold a variety of baked snacks in the 1920s and 1930s under the Hostess brand name. James Dewar, the company's vice president, wanted to make a new product. He wanted to make a sponge cake with a flavored cream filling. He saw an advertisement for Twinkle-Toe Shoes one day while heading to a marketing meeting. That inspired the name of his new creation, the Twinkie. This was in 1930. The original filling was banana cream flavored, but during World War II a banana shortage befell the company. A simple switch to vanilla cream filling solved the problem, and Twinkies continued to grace the shelves of grocery stores. Source: Science.HowStuffWorks.com
