[Answer] Which country became the first to give women the permanent right to vote?

We have looked all around the web to find the most relevant answer to your query:

Which country became the first to give women the permanent right to vote?

  • New Zealand:The first independent country to grant women the permanent right to vote was New Zealand in 1893. Though the Corsican Republic, Isle of Man, Pitcairn Island, and the Cook Islands all extended voting right to women before 1893, these were temporary privileges. When these countries succumbed to colonization, these voting rights were quickly rescinded. New Zealand bestowed on women the permanent right to vote, making them the first country to do so. This right was not extended to include the right to hold public office, however. But it was a good first step. Source: WorldAtlas.com
