Who was the original Bozo the Clown?
- Vance "Pinto" Colvig:Vance "Pinto" Colvig began as a teen pursuing jobs in the circus. His favorite position was performing as a circus clown. He later worked at Walt Disney Studios, as an animator and voice talent. He voiced such characters as Pluto, Goofy, and two of the Seven Dwarfs (Grumpy and Sleepy.) But his heart was in his work as a clown. His talents included music, art and mime. He garnered his nickname "Pinto" as a school boy. Friends nicknamed him "Pinto" because of his freckled face, saying it reminded them of a spotted horse named a pinto. His most popular and beloved character was Bozo the Clown, who first appeared in 1946 with the release of a storytelling record-album that accompanied a read-along book, "Bozo at the Circus." Pinto Colvig's name joined the Clown Hall of Fame in 2004. Source: FamousClowns.org
