In the 1960s TV series, what kind of animal was Flipper?

  • Bottlenose dolphin:From 1964 to 1967, NBC aired a weekly television show that featured a bottlenose dolphin appropriately named Flipper. The fun-loving and lovable dolphin was a friend and companion of Chief Warden Porter Ricks, supervisor of the Coral Key Park and Marine Preserve, a fictional park in Florida. Ricks was a single father to his two sons Bud and Sandy. The family lived in southern Florida where their many adventures took place in the warm waters off the coast. The boys and Chief Ricks were never far from their aquatic friend. The role of Flipper was actually played by six different dolphins over the course of the series. Source: Classic-TV.com
