[Answer] Who invented the first practical inflatable tire?

We have looked all around the web to find the most relevant answer to your query:

Who invented the first practical inflatable tire?

  • John Boyd Dunlop:Robert Thomson patented a vulcanized rubber tire that could be inflated. It was advanced technology for 1845 but far too costly to be practical. It wasn't until 1888, when Scottish veterinarian and inventor John Boyd Dunlop patented his version of a pneumatic tire, that inflatable tires became practical for use. Dunlop's tires were intended for use on bicycles and worked remarkably well and at an affordable price. It was seven years later before brothers Edouard and Andre Michelin adapted Dunlop's bicycle tires to for use on an automobile. Not terribly durable, it was 1911 before a combination tire and air-filled inner tube, invented by Philip Strauss, that inflatable automobile tires were successful. Source: ThoughtCo.com
