Which singer recorded the album "The IRS Tapes: Who'll Buy My Memories?" to pay off millions in back taxes?
- Willie Nelson:The IRS Tapes: Who'll Buy My Memories? is an album by country and western singer Willie Nelson. The album, featuring only Nelson and his guitar, was released in 1992 to pay Nelson's tax debt with the Internal Revenue Service. At the time, the country star owed over $16 million in back taxes and was forced to file for bankruptcy. The album became the first and perhaps only album ever released under a strict revenue-sharing agreement with the IRS. Although the album generated $3.6 million for the IRS, it did not come close to settling the debt on its own. Nelson was eventually able to clear his debt by 1993.
