[Answer] What substance was used for blood in the famous shower scene from the movie "Psycho"?

We have looked all around the web to find the most relevant answer to your query:

What substance was used for blood in the famous shower scene from the movie "Psycho"?

  • Chocolate syrup:Perhaps the most iconic scene in the history of cinema is the shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. The murder of Janet Leigh's character in the shower lasts only 45 seconds, yet it took an entire week to film. Shot using 77 different camera angles, the scene required lots and lots of blood. Instead of using the standard Hollywood stage blood, which has a thin consistency and an unconvincing color, Hitchcock's make-up artist, Jack Barron, chose to use Bosco Chocolate Syrup, which appears more realistic in black-and-white films.
