We have looked all around the web to find the most relevant answer to your query:

Which actor starred in the first movie that ever aired on HBO?

  • Paul Newman:On the evening of November 8, 1972, the film "Sometimes a Great Notion" made history as the first film to be shown on HBO. The 1971 film starred Paul Newman and was based on a novel by Ken Kesey, who is best known for writing One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Due to HBO's humble beginnings, the inaugural transmission went off to little fanfare. The signal went out to approximately three hundred people in Wilkes-Barre, a small city in Pennsylvania. A plaque in the city commemorates the channel's premiere broadcast of the film.
